Every apocalyptic story you've seen imagines a brutal, violent aftermath — but what if it were different?

Ben England is climbing the ranks of the tech world with the upcoming launch of his startup’s highly anticipated release. To test it securely, he and his small, scattered team rent an off-the-grid BNB and bring their families along.

Two weeks later, as they all head back to their separate homes, they discover that the world shut down while they were cloistered. Power, water, and services are gone. Cities are empty. Everywhere they turn, a potential landmine awaits.

Each chapter brings a new challenge — safe water, food, shelter, even how to honor the dead — as they grieve the loss of loved ones and the conveniences they took for granted. But as panic fades and problem-solving takes over, their eyes are opened to the everyday dysfunctions of the society they once called normal, and their family begins to heal and rebuild. In the quiet of this strange new world, they discover a deeper possibility: a blessing in disguise, a chance to restore the humanity their busy culture had buried long ago.
